| Step | Process | Description |
| Stage ONE | Initial Sketch Concepts | This stage explores a number of different approaches in the form of line drawings. Consideration will be given to a number of alternative options in product functionality, configuration and styling. The object of this exercise is to identify a route for subsequent development of one or more preferred concepts. Liaison both with the client and with the potential manufacturer is envisaged throughout the development. |
| Stage TWO | Concept Development | This stage progresses the further development of any preferred option(s) identified during Stage One. Detailed colour visualisation is supported by simple engineering layouts and sketch models. These models, often made from card or wood, provide a rapid & cost effective means of assisting a client's understanding of the concepts. |
| Stage THREE | Detail Design | This stage involves the realization of the design into a production solution, and entails the issue of an engineering drawing package for manufacturing purposes. Liaison with both the client and any suppliers is envisaged at this point in order to confirm the specification prior to commitment to a final prototype. |
| Stage FOUR | Liaison to Production | This is an optional stage which provides for further input as the client sees fit. |
